My name is Urška Bavčar. Formare Ceramics is my third ceramic project after kolektiv DVA and MANA keramika. Formare means to give rise to an idea or object. To touch the raw material and shape it according to the own imagination is the essence of ceramics. Pottery is a vivid and intuitive process. Every contact with the material leaves traces. Clay is a material that never forgets. By drying and burning, these traces emerge in a certain way. How exactly is never entirely predictable, but it is in the mastery of craftsmanship to understand these relationships and to use them consciously. Ceramics is an interplay of masterful intentions and the power of coincidence that directly collide in the uniqueness of each hand movement. The result of this exchange are objects full of character and a unique story.

My ceramic speaks a simple and clear language. I produce objects that fit harmoniously into the environment. I want to create products that do not stand for themselves, but highlight the beauty of the things they are used for and make them even more precious. A way of pottery that flows and does not occupy. Despite this simplicity, I give my works numerous details that are not always immediately apparent, but sometimes only become visible after repeated viewing. I work with monochrome glazes and choose natural colors that convey a calm feeling. Formare stands for hand-made, naturalistic and light ceramics.

Focus

Formare Ceramics is a professional artisan company specializing in the production of ceramic everyday objects – primarily tableware. I sell the products directly from my ceramics studio, located in Friesach's old town, surrounded by calming forests and medieval architecture.

A major focus of my work is the culinary world. I specialize in designing custom tableware for special culinary purposes and handcrafting it in exclusive, one-off productions. I'm proud to count top international chefs among my clients.
